Audio Restoration for Film Soundtracks

Old soundtracks are often noisy, unclear or too quiet. Our three audio filters run on AI audio models and restore a film's sound together with its picture - or an audio file on its own.

Three Audio Filters

  • Reduce Noise reduces background noise without affecting the clarity of what you want to hear.
  • Increase Clarity makes voices and details easier to hear.
  • Normalize Volume raises the volume to a normalized level without clipping.

Choose one, two or all three in the Job Settings. They work on the sound only: the picture filters you choose run in the same job, and the restored sound is delivered with the restored picture. Combine them with any of the film restoration filters, from dust removal to colorization, and with Output Scaling to Full HD or 4K.

Film Sound and Audio Files

Upload a film with its soundtrack - MOV, MP4, MXF, MKV or MPG - and restore picture and sound in one go. An audio-only file (WAV or MP3) can be restored on its own, for example a soundtrack that was kept as a separate file.

One thing to know: Natural Speed, which makes silent film move at its natural speed, makes the clip longer, so the soundtrack of such a clip is not kept.

Your Own Presets

Every filter can be turned on or off, so each film gets exactly the filters it needs - only the sound, only the picture, or both. In the workspace on our website you can save the filters, the output format and the scaling you use most as a preset of your own, and choose it again for the next film.

Together With the Picture

Audio restoration is part of the same service as our film restoration: remove dust and scratches, reduce flicker and noise, colorize black and white film and upscale to Full HD or 4K - with one job for the whole clip. Results are delivered as MOV (ProRes 422 HQ or 4444), MXF (DNxHR HQX or 444) or MP4 (H.264 or HEVC).

Working in Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer or DaVinci Resolve? Our plugins send clips from your timeline and bring the results back into your project. Before a job starts, the Job Settings let you compare any frame before and after at no charge.

How billing by the second works, how your film is kept safe and more: questions and answers.
