Archive Searcher is 100% free – no limits, no account needed to index and search. Restoration and colorization through Recuro Media are optional and charged at the usual rates.
Find clips in your film archive by what is in them and by what they technically are, in one search. Archive Searcher indexes your archive folders once: it measures every clip from the picture and the sound - real bit depth, borders, interlacing, levels, color or black and white, grain, dust, scratches and audio - and describes every scene with an AI vision model that runs on your own PC. Then search in plain words, such as "street views with a crowd of people" or "4K with a lot of vertical scratches". A clip that needs work can be sent to Recuro Media to be restored or colorized, straight from the app.

How It Works
- Index your archive once. Add your archive folders, sub-folders included. Every clip is measured and every scene is described, on your own PC.
- Search in plain words. Ask for what is in the pictures and what the clips are, in one search: "low resolution, SD in black and white".
- Preview the results and play them in the app.
- Send a clip to Recuro Media if you like, to restore or colorize it. This part is optional.
What It Measures
Every clip is measured from its picture and its sound, not only read from the file's header:
- Bit depth: how many bits of picture there really are.
- Framing: the active picture inside any letterbox or pillarbox.
- Scan type: interlaced or progressive, measured from the pictures.
- Levels and color: black and white points, contrast, color or black and white, color casts.
- Grain, dust and scratches: the noise level, specks per frame and vertical scratches.
- Audio: the channels, loudness, noise, hum and clicks.
One PC Indexes, Everyone Searches
One PC builds the index and publishes a copy of it to a shared folder on your network, every few minutes. Everyone else searches
that copy - with the "Application only" installation, on any PC with Windows 10 or later.
Requirements
Archive Searcher
- Windows 10 or later, 64-bit
- Indexing needs an NVIDIA graphics card: the AI vision model that describes the scenes runs on it
- Searching a finished index works on any PC with Windows 10 or later - no graphics card or vision model needed
- For indexing, the AI vision model: a separate download of several gigabytes, made inside the app
- About 1.1 GB of disk space, plus the vision model
- Administrator rights to install
Restore and Colorize With Recuro Media
Found a clip that needs work? Archive Searcher says, from its own measurements, what Recuro Media would do for it - without an
account. Sign in with your Recuro Media account to send it: you see the price before anything is sent, and the result is saved
in a folder you choose, under a new name. The original is never changed. Restoration and colorization are charged at the usual
rates; indexing and searching stay free.
